Review: Smokin' Seventeen

Smokin' Seventeen Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stephanie has a lot on her plate. She finds herself checking in for work in Mooner’s RV since the office was mysteriously blown up. Business isn’t going so great either. She manages to catch the only FTA’s left in the system while Vinnie scrambles to find a way to drum up business while the office is being rebuilt. During all of this, somebody is leaving dead bodies on the empty lot where the office used to be. They even addressed a few of them to Stephanie.
I enjoyed this book very much. Any book that has Mooner in it is just a fantastic book to me. He is one of my all-time favorite characters. I wouldn’t consider him a book boyfriend, but he would definitely be someone I’d want to hang out with all the time. He’d be one of my best friends! But I’m moving off the point. I was also proud of myself because I figured out who did it before it was officially announced! It’s a great feeling. I can’t even begin to explain it.
The characters are as amazing as they always are. I have to be honest; I don’t like the decline I’m seeing with Grandma Mazur and Lula. It seems they are kind of fading into the background a bit. I didn’t see much of their energetic and outgoing personalities in this book. Maybe it was just overshadowed by all the events happening. I’ll see with the rest of the series! I love these characters so much. Especially Mooner. I brought up book boyfriend’s earlier. All I can say is Ranger definitely fits into that category.
I fully recommend this book. I have to state that this is the seventeenth book in a series. While they could all be read by themselves, it’s just better to read as a series. I would love to watch this as a television series one day! I know they made the first book into a movie. I loved it! I just think it would be a great television series. I’d make a point to watch every single episode!

Review: Blood Lust

Blood Lust Blood Lust by Grace White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I took one look at this cover and just knew I would love it. I was not wrong. The characters are amazing. The story is amazing. I am glad that I chose to go with my gut reaction about this book. So far, it has not lead me wrong. My best correlation I can give about this book is True Blood. Except the main character is a witch.

Review: Moon Cursed

Moon Cursed Moon Cursed by Grace White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book wrecked me. I had the biggest hangover ever due to this book. I just can't even begin to tell you about it. My heart!!! I don't even know! Don't take this review to mean you shouldn't read it. You SHOULD read it! I fully and strongly recommend it. Just prepare to be wrecked if you're very invested in the characters like I was.

The narrator was fantastic. She's one of my absolute favorite narrators of all times. I love her style. And she has this twang about her that's just so adorable. So I not only recommend this book (please read the first book first), I also recommend the narrator!

Review: Time's Anchor

Time's Anchor Time's Anchor by Lynda Engler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a quirky little story about a group of people who let scientists run experiments on them to earn some extra cash during their college years. For some reason, the testing causes them to randomly disappear and reappear in different time frames. It's a very short and very easy to read. I would have given it full stars, but I felt it could have been drawn out a little and been given more depth.

I liked the narrator. They did a pretty decent job delivering the story. At the moment, I can't think of anything negative about the narration. Only the length of the book. I fully recommend.

Review: Awesome Possum

Awesome Possum Awesome Possum by M. Garzon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. It's had quite a few great lessons. It covers children after divorce. It covers horses and their behaviorisms. It covers bullying. That's just naming a few things it covers. I fully enjoyed the story and I think many children would benefit greatly from reading this book.

The narrator was pretty amazing too. This is the first time I've heard them. That I'm aware of anyways. I listen to a lot of audiobooks. But they were great. I have no complaints.

Review: The Moirai

The Moirai The Moirai by Ali Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nivian is lost after Kain sacrifices his life for her. She doesn’t feel like she can go on. The ritual to transfer Silas’ powers to her fails because her heart isn’t in it. She feels that her heart will never be in it unless she can find a way to bring Kain back so he can accept his place as the Keeper Of Life. Going against all orders and wishes, she goes to find a way to bring him back no matter what the cost.
I really enjoyed this book. I’ve loved this series from book one. I can’t wait to continue with this series. I thought for a minute that this would be the last one. I was very upset about that. Once I discovered there was a book four, I was instantly cheered. This has quickly become one of my favorite series of all time. I’m glad I stumbled upon it. I will definitely be reading this series over and over.
The characters are so easy to relate to and connect with. I adore them all. All of them. Not just Kain and Nivian. Even if they are two of my favorites. There are two that the story kind of hints have an attraction to each other. I really hope something comes about with that. I am totally ready for that relationship. They both deserve to find happiness. I relate so much to the girl and I adore the guy so much. Like he could be my book boyfriend level! I realize that I didn’t drop names, but I did that to keep any spoilers out. The reader will just have to read the book to figure it out!
The narrator was just as great in this book as she was the first two. It is very obvious that this narrator is a very compassionate individual and she uses that compassion in all the stories she narrates. I have only listened to her read this series, but I will definitely be listening to other audiobooks of hers if I’m able to. She is very talented. I adored the amount of life she has given this story.
I can’t state how much I absolutely love this series. The first book sucked me in and I’ve been into the story sense. Even when I’m not reading it. I can’t say I’m obsessed, but I can’t say I’m far from being obsessed either. This is a clean paranormal/fantasy story. It’s a romance, but the story isn’t wrapped completely around the romance like a romance novel would be. I can’t wait for the next book to be released on audio!

Review: Sizzling Sixteen

Sizzling Sixteen Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stephanie’s cousin and boss is kidnapped. He owes a lot of money so the people he owes money to take him until the money could be paid off. The three girls must find a way to come up with the money that increases every day due to interest or they are all out of a job. Stephanie also does her best to track down the fugitives while she in the midst of all of this.
I really liked this book a lot. It wasn’t super action packed like some of her earlier books in the series was, but it was still great. I always love the books with Mooner in them. He brings so much character to the story. Grandma Mazur does the same. She’s in most of the books though. I sometimes wish that Mooner could be.
The character development is as great as ever. There's a connection and bond with all of the characters that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake. I’m not sure if I’d even want to. A lot of people would be like “this series is too long” when a series has more than ten books. I’m not that type. Give me as many as you want! My favorite character of the whole series is Mooner, but the rest are a riot! Ranger is definitely a perfect book boyfriend!
I’m definitely in love with this series. It’s one of my favorite book series of all time. I’m very excited that I’m finally getting caught up with all of them. I could never remember where I left off so I decided to just read all of them from the beginning. That was probably for the best. I never read the in between novels. I strongly recommend this series!

Review: Hoodwinked

Hoodwinked Hoodwinked by Beth Hendrix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gwen is just your average hunter. She goes around eliminating the paranormal beings that are causing problems with the humans. That is until her help is requested for a situation in Florida where many children are turning up missing. Something happens while she’s investigating that will change her life forever.
I really enjoyed this story very much. Gwen was super relatable. The story was amazing as well. However, the story wasn’t perfect. I really wish that the story was longer. I wish things had been prolonged a little bit more. Many scenes could have been enhanced. The other thing I had a slight issue with I’m kind of on the fence about. I normally don’t really get comfortable with the intense lust thing, but in this book it works. It’s hard to explain. But I feel like it’s part of the new her.
The characters are pretty amazing. I loved them all. I wish that some of the secondary characters played bigger roles. I will admit I got a bit confused with the names here and there. Except Gwen. I really love the name Gwen. And she was awe inspiring! I feel like she would be up in my top favorite characters. Right up there with Zoey Redbird and Rose Hathaway!
The narrator did a fantastic job with this one, but I really didn’t think she could do a bad job. This is not my first book that I’ve heard of Sarah Puckett. It won’t be the last either. I love her as a narrator. She just has this smooth voice I want to listen to for hours. I probably could to. Heck, I listened to this book in one sitting! If you haven’t heard anything by this narrator, you need to do so!
I really enjoyed this book. My mother and sister both read the book last year and they LOVED it. It’s been on my pile of books to read for a long time. I’m glad I’ve finally read it. I stumbled across this author at a readers’ convention in July of last year and I am so glad I did. I can’t wait to read more books by her!

Review: Enchantress of Numbers

Enchantress of Numbers Enchantress of Numbers by Jennifer Chiaverini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ada lives a very privileged life. However, it’s not as amazing of a life as she would hope. From a very young age, she knew that her mother and grandparents were keeping something from her. She couldn’t understand why she wasn’t allowed to know anything about her father and why she was forbidden from learning things. As she grows up, she learns more and more things about her father. She discovers why the truth had been hidden from her all that time.
I really enjoyed this book very greatly. I didn’t think I’d like it much at first. It had a bit of a slow start. But yes, I adored Ada very much. I loved her courage and her will. Her willingness to go for what she wanted despite what was going on around her. She wound up complying for the greater purpose, but she kept her beliefs. I can’t say much more, but I loved it. I wanted to do research on the real Ada Lovelace. Maybe I will here soon.
I guess I don’t need to divulge that I found the characters relatable. I gushed greatly over the main character at length. I can say that I would have loved to see more of the mother’s point of view. I just wanted to read a little more into why she was the way she was from her perspective. It wasn’t really important. Ada’s story is. But still. I enjoyed reading about all the characters. Especially the famous ones that were casually mentioned.
The narrator did a fantastic job. The book already made me feel like I was in that time frame, but she enhanced that. She talked very properly. She made me feel like I was listening to a person that was in that time frame rather than a narrator narrating an audiobook. It was brilliant. It added so much flair and exuberance to the story. I would love to track down more of her audiobooks.
Overall, I enjoyed this story very much. It was heartwarming. It made me feel like I learned a bit from history. I am highly encouraged to read more about Ada Lovelace and her remarkable work. I’d like to know what happened to everybody else in the story too. This is one of those stories I feel would greatly stick with you through life. It’s amazing! I fully recommend it.

Review: New Orleans Rush

New Orleans Rush New Orleans Rush by Kelly Siskind
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beatrice flees from her home when a loan shark demands she pays her father’s debts. She finds herself in New Orleans with her boyfriend who ditches her the moment somebody asks him out. Finding herself alone and homeless without money, she goes to a bar and gets drunk. She winds up keying a car that she thinks is her boyfriend. Turns out it’s a magician named Huxley’s. She goes to work for him to pay off the damages to his car.
I enjoyed this book very much. I felt I could relate to the story in many ways. I find that I really enjoy many stories that take place in New Orleans. It’s a magical city to me one day that I hope to visit. But I digress. I do have some minor issues with the story. There were a few things that weren’t really closed properly in my opinion. I can’t divulge too much because I don’t want to spoil the book for any. But I’d of loved to get conclusions on them.
The characters were great. They were very easy to connect with. There were some behaviors they had that I couldn’t really get behind, but that’s just because I’m not used to that type of behavior. I also wish the brothers played a bigger part in the story than they did. Actually, I wish quite a few characters had a more prominent role. There was still a great connection with all of them.
The narrator did a terrific job. She gave all the characters a wonderful personality that intensified the story. Not that it really needed much of that. It was a great story to begin with, but still. It was wonderful how much flair she added to the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It was amazing. The characters were realistic and easy to connect with. The story was easy to move along with. There was something that happened in the background that I would love to see in more light as its own story. Maybe the author has already considered that. We shall see. I fully recommend it.

Review: Her Bossy Daddy

Her Bossy Daddy Her Bossy Daddy by Adaline Raine
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lacey and Liam have been seeing each other for two years. Liam is Lacey’s dominant. They have been long distance until Liam gets a promotion and winds up working in the same place as Lacey. Things get steamy quickly. Lacey is terrified of what his being there will change for them. She’s terrified of not being good enough for him.
This story was okay. It wasn’t really my thing. I was kind of curious because I’d seen people talking about it constantly on my social media feed. That being said, I don’t think it’s a bad book. It’s just not a book for me. I’m sure that there are plenty of readers who will find this book amazing. And I’m very happy for them. I can say that I managed to get through this book very quickly.
I had no real connection with the characters at all. I somewhat related to Lacey because people made snide remarks about her weight. It’s like if people don’t meet society’s standard of beauty, they are nothing. That’s just how it goes. But I digress. I had no connection with the characters, and I didn’t really feel any development in any of them. That could be because of my personal preferences though.
The narrator was great, but he just didn’t fit this book. I feel like this book would have been told better with a female and male duo. I could even recommend some narrators for the job. I also feel like if Liam was Irish, he should have given Liam a more Irish accent. As I said though, he isn’t a bad narrator. I just don’t feel he fits this particular book.
This was a decent book. It’s a refreshingly short read and isn’t all that horrible. I can’t say it was my favorite book. I will also not be rereading it at all. But it was a decent book. For those of you who like the lifestyle and more erotic stories, have at it. I fully recommend the story to you. I will say this. I did enjoy the cover very much. It is very attention-grabbing.

Review: Before the Fall

Before the Fall Before the Fall by Noah Hawley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A private plane crashes. A very prominent and well-respected family is on the plane as well as a few other people. Investigations. Two people survive the wreck. The youngest member of the family and an artist that the wife had invited to join them. An investigation goes underway making everybody on the plate, deceased and alive, a suspect. They must not only find out what happened but find the bodies as well.
I really enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. I’m the type of person that goes into a book without reading anything about it first if I can help it. I feel it helps me enjoy the story more. Every now and then I will concoct my own theories about the book and determine if they are correct as I read. It’s quite a fun thing to do. I recommend it. I can honestly say I was wrong about this book. In the best ways possible!
I’m on the fence about my feelings about the characters. In ways, they are passionate and very interesting beings. On the other, they can come off as robotic and kind of bland. Some of the characters play too much of a role in the background than they should have. All in all, I can’t say I felt a full connection with any of the characters. I did connect very well to the story though.
The narrator did a very decent job as well. I can’t say I developed a deeper emotional connection due to his narration. But he did give some depth to the story. I have no complaints about his narration. I may even seek out some of his other works. Time shall tell.
I really enjoyed this story. There was a part that made me sad that I won’t speculate on openly as I do not want to ruin the story for the reader. But it was expected from the very beginning. This story was very inspirational. It was also very frustrating as well. Just because of the speculations that went on through the book that I also won’t repeat due to spoilers. I do fully recommend this book. I enjoyed it very much.

Review: The Exodus

The Exodus The Exodus by Ali Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The balance is shifting at a rapid pace. Reapers are disappearing at a rapid speed. Nobody has any idea what’s going on. Many things are happening all at once. Sacrifices are needed to be made to keep the balance in order. The hunters and reapers have decided it would be in the best interest of all if they worked together to maintain the balance. Through it all, Nivian and Kain work to figure out what their relationship is and why they always yearn to be near each other.
I was totally into this story from the very beginning. This is book two in the series. I loved the first book. If I had more time, I could have listened to both books all in one sitting. Alas, the daily lives in which we lead makes it almost impossible for me to finish anything in one sitting. It happens now and then, but not often. But yeah if I could choose it at will, this would be one of those series. I can just tell this is going to be a series I read repeatedly.
The characters. Where do I even begin with the characters? They were so easy to connect with. I loved and adored all the “good” characters”. I wanted all the best for all of them. I wanted justice served for all the characters that betrayed them! But at the same time, I felt so bad for the bad ones. They didn’t seem evil. It’s more like they were confused and had things wrong. They misunderstood. I can’t say more than that without giving it away.
The narration was terrific. I loved the personalities the narrator gave to this story. If I’m not mistaken, she did the first book too. She did fantastic with that one as well. I’m not sure if I’ve listened to her do any other books, but I’ll definitely be interested in listening to more of her work. She has great talent. She sucked me into the story more than I already was. And that says a lot!
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. My emotions were all over the place with these characters! I can’t wait to dive into the third book! I fully recommend this book. Especially if the reader enjoys a nice paranormal story. It has some romance in it, but it’s clean. I loved it!

Review: Abducted

Abducted Abducted by Sara Fields
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Supposed to be a celestial mate after fleeing Earth, she is surprised when she winds up getting kidnapped by the enemy instead. Four aliens who had once been a part of an alien race that invaded Earth wanted her for themselves. They wanted to use her to breed.
Normally I’d comment about the story. But I don’t think there was much of a story here. It is a very erotic story. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s just not my thing. I don’t care for stories like these. I don’t mind sexual situations in books. I just prefer a story line with the sexual situations spread through the story. Not a bunch of sex with a story sprinkled through it. I won’t say I hated the book. I’m sure many others will enjoy the books much more than I did.
I can’t really say I connected with any of the characters. They seemed okay I guess. But it just didn’t seem like most of the characters were realistic. I like the idea behind them. But they don’t really give anything to build a true connection with. I did get confused with all the back and forth and got some characters mixed up.
I can say that I was very impressed with the narrator. She did a terrific job. I loved her voices for all the characters. It helped me be less confused for the most part. The story was kind of all over the place, but she did well. I would love to listen to other books that this narrator narrates.
I can say that I liked this story. It had great potential. I do want to notate that this is the third book and I have not read books one or two. Maybe this is part of the reason I didn’t care about it. Maybe it’s only because it was overly sexual. I don’t fully know. What I do know is that I can’t give it a full five-star rating. That doesn’t mean this is a horrible book. It just means that it’s not the book for me. I fully recommend this book for anybody who likes to read a book with a lot of heat. A lot.

Review: Balance

Balance Balance by Lucia Franco
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adrianna is desperate to find a better gym to practice for gymnastics. Gymnastics is her one dream and she wants to advance. She doesn’t feel like she can advance in the gym she is in currently. Her father uses his connection with a renowned former Olympic gymnast to get her in his very prestigious gym. While training there, she winds up having to do intense extra training and a spark forms between her and Coach Kova.
I’m torn. I loved the story. I really did. But I wasn’t very comfortable with the romance between the coach and Adrianna. I don’t want to say too much into it to give it away too much. It just didn’t make me comfortable. I’ll leave it at that. I will say that it gave me a Vampire Academy feel. It was like Dimitri and Rose, but the age gap was wider. Maybe that’s why I was so uncomfortable. All in all, the story itself was great. I would have loved to see more into the training. It felt like that was in the background except for when she just wasn’t doing well.
The character development was good. I can’t say that I connected with any of the characters, though. I didn’t like Coach Kova right off the bat. Not because of his attitude. My gut just told me there was something sinister about him. I wasn’t wrong. There were quite a few characters I wish had a more prominent role in the story. They kind of faded into the background. They should have been highlighted more.
As I listened to this in audio, I only feel it fair I give my thoughts on the narrator. I hope I won’t be too biased. Sarah Puckett is one of my favorite narrators of all times. I adore her. She did a fantastic job in this one as she’s done all of the other audiobooks I’ve heard. It was a mix of her and the actual story (not the romance) that kept me reading. If it was just the romance, I’d of put this book down.
Overall, this was a great story. I can’t give it a five-star rating, but I can’t give it a one-star either. I will say that if you’re uneasy about major age gaps, I would shy away from this book. Buti f you’re okay with it, go for it. I love how open and honest they were about the hardships of being a gymnast. The realistic view of what girls put themselves through to be the best gymnast they can be. I do recommend this book.

Excerpt:

Prologue
"You can't do that Skyler!" Warned the newest member of the Seraphim family, Rosa, the newest member to arrive felt the conviction to warn her new brother.
The long-haired dark-skinned Seraphim glared at his brothers and sisters defiantly, "We can't stand by why he just lets them die! We must help them! What are we here for if not to help them? It's not right to let the humans pay such a price." He paced the Telestial gardens as the anger overflowed.
A hand caught his shoulder making him stand still, then he heard the soft voice of his closest brother, "You are the angel of Faith. You have to believe that he wants what is best for the humans! We are here to do his bidding not save the humans!" He tried to sound reassuring but failed badly.
Skyler jerked his shoulder free of Zeke's grasp, "We are here for that but at what cost? The humans are dying by the thousands from a disease they can't control. What's so wrong with us helping them? They are supposed to be his children!" Pointing towards Rosa, he snipped, "Not too long ago you were a human. How can you turn your back on them so easily?"
"It's against the rules," interrupted another Seraphim, Rafael, who stood back from the others. "We all knew the rules when we became Seraphim...when we reached the Telestial level of heaven we knew the rules. Or is it something more?" There were about twenty Seraphim now gathered in the magnificent gardens watching the interactions between Zeke and Skyler. These two have been brothers in heaven for more than a millennium and have never swayed from their positions, but when the Plague of Galen hit and killed thousands, Skyler felt like he couldn't stand by any longer and do nothing. Rafael rarely spoke up but when he did usually Skyler listened, but not today. Rafael tried to step in closer towards his friend, but Skyler moved away not allowing his friend to impress upon him God's will.
Looking around at his heavenly home where flowers always bloomed, the grounds always perfectly manicured, Skyler became even more outraged at the human's situation.
"Something more? Is this not enough? I will help them. I don't care what any of you say," the rebellious Seraphim turned to his heaven long friend, "Will you join me?"
Zeke's head dropped, he shook it slowly as he looked back up at his friend, "You know I'm always up for a good cause, but God specifically commanded us not to interfere. We can't. I can't. I'm sorry."
Skyler shrugged, "Fine. I'll do it myself."
Without hesitation, Skyler left his heavenly home and went to the place on earth called Mesopotamia. The bustling city made of clay buildings and dusty roads filled with people moving along their daily routines as if there was no danger, nothing out there killing them off. But there was a plague that was killing the people by the thousands that ended up killing over five million before the angel could find a way to stop it. The painful boils and life-threatening fevers spread like wildfire in the dry bush through the populations. Skyler came into the city and befriended any of those who would listen to him. He worked hard, day and night, to show them how to stop the spread of the disease and healing as many as possible before God could summon his soul back to heaven. Boiling water, cleaning, and sterilizing clothes as much as possible while helping them move diseased corpses out of the city and burning the bodies on massive pyres, Skyler worked for many weeks with no contact from any of his brothers or sisters, no contact from God. Feeling the great creator had given up on his people only fueled the energy within the angel to work harder and save more lives. His ability to heal them was minimal, and diminished over time, so most of the work was backbreaking, physical labor.
In the Telestial realm of heaven, God watched his angel work. Hoping he'd see reason; God finally gave up and summoned Skyler back to his home. He paced the floor as he waited for the summons on Skyler's soul to be complete. Standing seven feet tall with skin that changed from one tone to the next on a rotation of every skin pigment the humans had, while holding his hands behind his back, he paced and mumbled to himself. He was outraged that one of his Seraphim had betrayed him, one that had been with him since near the beginning of time, one that had already seen the repercussions of defying him.
Skyler's soul was ripped from where he stood among the people and pulled through the atmosphere into and through the heavenly realms where he landed at God's feet. The people who he had been standing withstood in awe before running and hiding thinking they would be sucked away into some unknown place by some unknown force. Skyler shook himself off and looked up at the being who he had once praised without a doubt. Standing he looked at the heavenly keeper, "Sir, you took me away from my work. I wasn't done."
Looking down at the angel who was being so insolent, God's voice boomed making the heavens shake, "Skyler."
The two glared at one another. God tried to be patient with his defiant child because to him all those in heaven were his children and was more highly prized than the humans back on earth. Skyler stood, placed his hands behind his back, spread his feet shoulder width and tried his best to look confident. He knew he had broken a rule of heaven, one that could banish him for all time if God so saw fit, even still he stood behind his decision to help the humans. "You summoned," his words were cautious because he knew his heavenly fathers' wrath was unparalleled.
"Did you go to the humans and help them with that nasty little plague I set upon them after I told you to leave it alone?" God didn't face the Seraphim as he spoke. Instead, he paced slowly around the angel of faith.
Shocked at the revelation that God himself set the plague on the people, Skyler stuttered, "You did what?" His eyes had gone wide and his brows scrunched.
God chuckled, "I don't answer to you my son. You have our roles a little confused, don't you?" He turned and looked closely at Skyler, eye-to-eye as he bent down.
"How could you do that to your own children? Where is your heart? You created them to love you and you torture them this way. Woman and children dying in unimaginable pain and anguish and you stand here and laugh as if it were some game. I had no choice but to help them, save them! Someone had to fix your error!"
"Have you forgotten your place? I think you have but I will tell you this plague was no error or misunderstanding. I often send plagues to clear out many humans in order to test their faith." God's voice boomed over the heavenly realms making them all quake and rumble as he stood to his full height.
Skyler stood firm in front of his father, "I have not, but I think you have forgotten yours! Those are your humans down there. The same humans you say have a choice in where their souls go. You condemn them to death with such horrifying pain! I will not stand by while you continue to do these things. I've seen enough."
"Have you now?" God now looked shocked that his angel of faith was being so defiant.
"Indeed, I have," Skyler no longer cared what happened to him.
Growling at the angel, God bent down. His nostrils flared in anger from the defiance the angel displayed. He roared, "So be it. I condemn your soul to live as a human until such a time that you regain your faith. You will live a thousand lives born to no family each lifetime. You have lost faith in me so I will take your memories until you can regain your faith once more. You will keep your name in each life, and you will always look the same so maybe one day when you hear your name or see your reflection you might remember. If that does not work, then you will be forced to continue living as a human until the day you make yourself worthy to return to heaven!"
Skyler broke inside as he felt his soul-shattering but what came next was his hell. Skyler fell to his knees as a burning sensation ripped through his body, beginning in his legs it didn't stop until it hit his head. The pain then settled on his back. Flesh ripped and blood streamed from his back as his wings were torn from the place they grew out of his back at. Skyler's screams could be heard in all three realms of heaven causing others to hide in fear, for they had not heard an angel being banished since Lucifer himself was kicked out of heaven. Crumpled in a pile on the floor, the once glorious angel, was now a mere human shaking in pain, unable to stand on his own.
Stepping forward, God knelt next to his son, "You will leave my home now and not return until your faith in me has!" God touched his forefinger to Skyler's forehead and all he saw was a bright light.
Skyler lived a thousand lives, never born to any family as his time on Earth continued in cycles. This next life was about to change him forever, only he didn't know he needed it to.
As a child, Skyler knew he was different. He never looked like his family and always stood out. His dark skin and long hair, along with his name all followed him from lifetime to lifetime.
Adopted into a family with a daughter, Skyler was now a big brother. Although he loved his sister, Skyler's childhood and adolescence was hard. He knew he was different, not only in his family but among the other children. He wasn't like the other boys who fawned over the girls, no he was interested in the boys. This was the first lifetime that God had sent Skyler into where he was the most different, not that he could remember the others. Rebellion and acting out against his family, Skyler partied and caused trouble until the day his sister, Rose, came home with a terminal diagnosis she contracted through her work. The one person who loved him unconditionally was dying, so he turned his life around for her.

Review: Civil War

Civil War Civil War by James A. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Review from my boyfriend and myself.

My boyfriend and I listened to this book together We loved it very much. We were trying to figure out if this would be a duology or a series. Now that we know, we can't wait for book three! Listening to these books with him has given me a better understanding of D&D. He loves to play the game. Maybe now I can play with him!

The narrator was fantastic. He was great in the first book too, so I had no doubt he'd be great in this one. I hope that he'll be narrating the third book too when it comes out. It wouldn't be told the same without him. Fully loved it and fully recommend.

Review: Reignite

Reignite Reignite by Aidy Award
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a very beautiful trilogy with a very beautiful ending. I'll admit I didn't really care much for it in the beginning. I wanted to stick with it anyways. I was curious. I am glad I stuck with it. I got to watch the characters grow and evolve through the trilogy. I also got to watch the story unfold and become inspiring. I have some critiques. Such as wishing some parts of the story were brought out in more detail, but that's a minor complaint.

I don't have any complaints about the narrator either. She was amazing. She was amazing in the first two books as well. I fully recommend this author, this trilogy, and this narrator. While this wouldn't have been my go-to type of book, I don't regret reading it. It's an inspired book.

Review: Rebellion

Rebellion Rebellion by Aidy Award
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first started this trilogy, I had a lot of misconceptions about what I'd be reading. I had a lot of negative thoughts about the main character and her behavior. That changed a lot with this book. Watching all the characters grow and evolve in this one was very refreshing. I also loved the suspense in the background.

The narrator did a fantastic job in this book as well. I enjoyed her narration and her take on the characters. I really felt the personality for every person through her narration. And of course through the author's writing. I'm glad I came across this book.

Review: Clutch

Clutch Clutch by Lisa Becker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very cute and quirky book. I adored it very much. I could relate to the main character in many ways. There was something I saw coming miles away. I was still happy to be right in the end. It was very inspirational. I can't say I agree with some of the things that happened in this book or some of the characters' opinions, but that's not really important. It made them more realistic!

The narrator did a very great job. I would be surprised to find out she's not southern at all. If she isn't, she definitely did her homework. She put the southern flair all through the book. I loved that. I'm from Georgia. That's where the main character in the book is from too. It was pretty cool!

Review: Little Miss Perfect

Little Miss Perfect Little Miss Perfect by Julia Kent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a cute little flashback that helps understand the history of events for Fluffy better. It highlights an event that is constantly referenced throughout Fluffy. I do agree that this book can be read without reading Fluffy, but I strongly encouraged reading both. I only wish that they could have highlighted a little more of the past. That would have been nice to read.

The narrator was the same in this book as Fluffy. She did a terrific job in this one. I was shocked I got through it so fast. One moment I started the book and the next thing I know my boyfriend is home and the book is finished. I'm glad I read this book and Fluffy. I enjoyed both very much.

Review: Fluffy

Fluffy Fluffy by Julia Kent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a very unique story. I enjoyed it very much! It was a refreshing take on the romance genre. It almost felt entirely authentic to me. It was funny and quirky. It wasn't in any way cringy or predictable. I find that's where I get uncomfortable with romances. Especially the sexual ones. I can't express how surprised I was with the book. I can't wait to read the next one!

The narrator did a fantastic job. It's like she gave the quirky characters, even more, quirk and pizazz! I'm not sure if I listened to this narrator before but I definitely will again. I strongly recommend both the book and the narrator. I would also love to explore more books by this author. I have been curious about her for a while. I'm glad I finally gave her a chance!

Review: Plum Spooky (A Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers/Holiday Novel, #4)

Plum Spooky (A Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers/Holiday Novel, #4) Plum Spooky (A Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers/Holiday Novel, #4) by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Like all the in-between novels, this was a very light story. I enjoyed it very much. I did kind of forget that this book was centered around Halloween. It was kind of overshadowed. The first three weren't. But it's okay. The story needed my attention. It was intense and has to be my favorite of all the in-between novels.

I wound up checking this book out from the library. I listened to it. It was pretty great. The narrator did a decent job. I loved hearing it very much. I almost listened to the entire book in one sitting. I did manage to listen to it all in record time. Then again, I really don't listen at normal speed. I love this series!

Review: Hard Eight

Hard Eight Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book seems to be more about finding somebody for a family friend then looking for a fugitive. They did go after an FTA in the story, but the main story was about the family friend. It was a good story though. I really enjoyed it. It was as funny as all of the rest of the series!

I listened to half of this book on audiobook. The narrator did a decent job. I can't say I loved how she made Lula sound, but I'm a bit picky. I can say she was way better than the first narrator. Not that there was anything wrong with the original narrator. She just didn't fit the personality I'd like for this series.

Review: Evanthia's Gift

Evanthia's Gift Evanthia's Gift by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have never read a book that I have been so moved by as I was this book. It's a story about family, relationships, love, second chances, life, death. I felt like I was a part of the story. I learned a lot about Greek culture because of this book. It's authentic and beautiful. It's touching. I had to fight not to cry several times.

The narrator did a fantastic job. She made an already beautiful story even more amazing. This is a new to me narrator, but I'm glad I listened to this. I would love to listen to the rest of this series. I'm fully invested in this. It's like I'm reading about my own family!
