Review: The Queen's Poisoner

The Queen's Poisoner The Queen's Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Owen's family has done the unthinkable. They decide to betray the king. In doing so, their oldest son is killed for treason. If that wasn't bad enough, they are forced to give Owen to the king as his next hostage. While in the castle, he learns many dark secrets. He also learned that he had many in the castle who would do anything to protect him and keep him alive no matter what.

I really adored this book. I can't say that I was entranced from the very beginning. To do so would be a lie. It did take me awhile to get through. I'm glad I stuck with it. I adored this book. I adored the characters! I can hardly wait to dig into the next book. I may do so after this review!

The narrator as well! Wow she's amazing. I know I harp on a lot of narrators, but the ones who catch my attention really deserve it. And she really caught my attention. If I'm being honest, I think she's the reason I mainly decided to stick with this book when I found it a bit dull.

I fully recommend this book! It's a book full of fantasy. Plus it takes place surrounded by nobility. So there's that as well. Anyways, I'd stick with it at least a couple chapters. It may have a slow start, but it's worth it to keep on reading!

Review: Notorious Nineteen

Notorious Nineteen Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love that the mystery was thrown back into this one full force. All of the books in the series are pretty mysterious, but quite a few of them recently have been general and centered around Stephanie herself. These were like the ones when they first started. I loved it.

Review: The Trouble with You

The Trouble with You The Trouble with You by L.A. Cotton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Senior year has finally come! Hailey can finally get rid of her football-obsessed stepbrother and all he stands for. She won't have to deal with any of his friends ever again. Until some pranks go wrong and she finds herself constantly crossing paths with Jason's very best friend. And she finds that she might not actually hate him.

I enjoyed this story a lot more than I thought I would. I thought it would be cringy and angsty. It wasn't. It was actually an enjoyable read. I am not going to say it marks right up there with my favorites. But I did really enjoy it. I would definitely read the rest of the series.

I enjoyed the narrators as well. I have to be honest, Wen Ross does a lot better narrating with Kai. I've listened to multiple audiobooks with Wen and Kai. The chemistry between them sizzles and adds so much to the story. However, these two were great as well. They are two of my favorite narrators of all times and it was nice to hear them narrate a book together!

I fully recommend this book. It was a great read. I can't say it was page turning or read it all in one sitting, but it did come close to that. I won't lie. It was above and beyond what I expected of the book. I really enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to hearing the rest of the series.

Review: Explosive Eighteen

Explosive Eighteen Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stephanie comes home with her world thrown upside down. On top of it all, she mysteriously has a photo in her luggage. A photo that puts her in a lot of danger. She's being pursued by multiple people. And she also has issues with both Ranger and Morelli.

I really enjoyed this book, but I have enjoyed the entire series so far. It's one of my favorite series of all times. I know many people will disagree with me about this. And that's okay. Everybody is entitled to like different books. I don't really care for books that many people have fallen in love with. It is what it is.

My only critiques of this book are that the author really seems to have gotten bored with a few of the characters in the series. They used to have a lot of funk and flair. Now they just kind of fall flat. This could just me being overly critical. Which is one of the reasons I'm not stating the names. But I'm not sure. Maybe I'll talk about the book with others and see if they see it too.

I do recommend this book. I do look forward to reading the rest of this series. I really hope that this entire book series gets turned into a television series eventually. It would make a great one! They could do multiple books in a series! Maybe one day. Who knows? I would watch every episode if they did!

Review: Holding on to Hurt

Holding on to Hurt Holding on to Hurt by Charlotte Roth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Despite the few problems I have with this story, I give it full stars. I wish there were a few things that were explained more and gone into more detail about, but it didn't kill the story. The story was so beautifully written and heart-wrenching. It was hard not to get caught up in the feels. I was a little disappointed with the ending. I won't talk about it due to the obvious spoiler reason. I was just hoping they would go into more detail than they did. It wasn't major though. I still loved it.

The narrator did a pretty amazing job too. I feel like she intensified the feelings in the book with how she narrated. She definitely kept me wanting to hear more and more. There were several times where I had to stop it but really didn't want to because I wanted to just keep on listening! I fully recommend this. Just realize that it's not a happy go lucky book. It's very heavy but very beautiful.
