Review: Untamed

Untamed Untamed by P.C. Cast
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Untamed by P.C. and Kristin Cast. It takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is the fourth book in the House Of Night series. In this book, Zoey's friends are mad at her because they discover she has been hiding things from them. They were not aware that she was doing it to protect them because they were completely left in the dark. Aphrodite still has visions even though she's been recently turned into a human while healing Stevie Rae. She has visions of Zoey dying and the world ending. Together they must get her group back on speaking terms and stop Neferet from the evil she's planning before it's too late.

I've loved this series from the second I read it the first time. It's funny, refreshing, and thrilling all at the same time. This book was one of the saddest of all the series for me. That's kind of one of the biggest reasons I love this series so much. It has a way of making you feel what the characters are feeling. There are some parts that are absolutely suspenseful, and others that are light and funny.

There were a few things that I started picking up on that I didn't really like so much. For instance, they seem to have an inconsistency with the element air. I think they should pick one and stick with it. If they want to say wind, they should say wind every time they invoke the element. Same if they choose air. The second problem I have with this series is the constant use of “bullpoopy”. I know this is kind of petty but it just sounds so vulgar. The words she consider cuss words are less vulgar than that.

All in all though, I love this series. It's one of my favorite series of all times. I would fully recommend it to anybody who's into this kind of series. Think of it like teenage vampire series meets Harry Potter. It's mostly targeted at the teenage audience, but I think that there are many adults who will enjoy reading this as well. I know I do.

Review: Chosen

Chosen Chosen by P.C. Cast
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chosen is the third book in the House of Night series. It is written by P.C and Kristin Cast. Zoey uncovers a secret that throws her world upside down. The worst part about it is that she can't share it with her friends. If she does, she will put them in danger. She struggles to find a way to fix the problem that she uncovered as well as the messes she's gotten herself into. Can she do it and remain in one piece? Will she find a way to tell her friends before it's too late and they find out and turn their backs on her?

This was an emotionally ripping book. I really enjoyed reading it. I can easily say that this entire series is one of my favorite series of all times. It's not just about the story itself. It's about the underlying messages that all these books seem to carry with them. I also love the play of good and evil. It's like they are making it simply what it really is. Good versus evil.

I do notice some inconsistencies with the books though. There are a few times that names get used when other names were supposed to be used. If you actually follow the book well enough though, you'll be able to know who they are talking about anyways. I may have an older version of the book. For all I know, they could have already caught and fixed these mistakes. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with this book or this series.

I do fully recommend this book. I would have to say it's more for the young adult paranormal readers. I have always preferred series opposed to stand-alones. This is definitely a great series to dig into. I'm glad that I was given the opportunity to enjoy and read it. I can't wait to read it to the very end.

Review: Betrayed

Betrayed Betrayed by P.C. Cast
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Betrayed. The second book in the House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast. This book is about Zoey trying to figure out why she keeps seeing fledglings who have died around the school. There are also human teenagers who keep disappearing. The way their bodies are found make it look like vamypres are killing them. It's up to Zoey and her friends to help find out the truth before more human teenagers die.

I really love this series. I'm not ashamed to say it's my favorite series of all times. I know that not everybody agrees with my opinion of this book. That's okay with me, but I fully encourage everybody to give this series a chance. I believe many people will adore it as much as I do. Zoey couldn't be a better main character. The personality the authors have given her is just endearing. She's so easy to relate to.

*Second Read*

I just finished reading Betrayed. Betrayed is the second book in the House Of Night Series. Human high school kids are disappearing. They are later discovered dead. Their deaths are made to look like vampyres are responsible. Can Zoey and her group figure out what’s happening and stop it before it’s too late? Are they strong enough to do so while dealing with the loss of someone close to them?

I really love this series. This isn’t the first time I’ve read this book. I haven’t read the last few books in the series though so I’m re-reading this series to refresh my memory. One of the things I love most about this book, and the entire series, is the fact that the characters are real. They all have real problems they go through. They aren’t characters you see in a lot of places that just happen to have all the money they need at exactly the right time. They experience hardships just like everybody else.

There wasn’t really a whole lot I liked about this book. There are some consistency issues. They are very minor though and you’d have to be really paying attention to spot them out. They are overlookable in the grand scheme of the whole picture though. I wonder sometimes if they are really inconsistencies or if it’s just me being a little overly picky about small details.

If fully recommend this book, and the series in general, to anybody who is interested in paranormal books. It is mainly for young adult audiences, but I don’t think it matters who read it. If a reader likes it, they like it. I do recommend that they read the series in order though. It’s less confusing that way. I’m so honored to have read this book.

Review: The Quiet Day

The Quiet Day The Quiet Day by Lorhainne Eckhart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to say I really enjoyed this book far more than I have enjoyed books in the rest of the series. I really connected with the main character. She's really into this guy who couldn't bother to even try to pretend to be in a commitment with her. If that isn't bad enough, she's passed up on promotions in favor of him. This is a second chance romance. I really enjoyed the second chance part of the romance. It was really inspirational. Spoiler alert, the second chance isn't with the jerk.
